opened the first Interport trial on Saturday. The somewhat 'startling beginning was a reflection on the cricket, that followed. Dull and unenterprising batting featured the day, despite the very mediocre bowling. Loose balls were there by the dozen but only two batsmen, T. A. Pearce and C. C. Garthwalte, took advantage of them.
