of vital importance to the future standing of the runners-up. position of the Senior Lawn Bowls League was a match played on Saturday which resulted in a win for the Club de Recreio aver their nearest rivals, the Kowloon Bowling Green Club. The win- ners are now almost assured of being second to the Craigengewer Cricket Club "A", who won the championship, again this year.

The Recreio have played 15 matches and won 10, as against the K.B.G.C.'s sixteen games with nine wins.

The juniors of both these clubs clashed on Saturday resulting in an away win for the Portuguese lady by 64 shots to 58, thus re- versing a decision earlier this season.

Sevens were recorded by Jack Rodger, who also had two Alves, and A. E. S. Alves. Sixes were obtained by F. X. Soares, who beat H. Rose by 14 shots, W. Ward (up 9), J. Cavanagh (up 6) and S. Deacon (down 4.)

VOLUNTEERS CONQUER

Close Baseball Victory

Marked with a rare exhibition of baseball, the Volunteers defeat- ed the Japanese by the score of 7-8 on Saturday on the Causeway Bay diamond.

Everyone expected the Nippons to win this gaufe, but the Volun- teers emerged victorious at the end of the seventh innings.

The battery of "Letty" Bowen, and Wing Lee was too much for the lads from the land of the Rising Sun, and although Bowen tanned dve, he walked nine. How- ever, he was backed well by the fielding, Wing Lee proved himsel most efficient in his throws, to second base,

Mikuni Ditched throughout the game, but the Volunteers knocked the balls at will. N. Leonard: scored the only home run of the game
