The past and present nurses continued with the collecting of their "Mlle of Dollars," and the total received by them up to 31st December 1935 was $12.656.51. We are very much "Indebted to them for their energy and perseverence. Further sums have been received during 1936, and although a con- siderable sum still remains to be collected. in June the Executive Committee felt justified in signing the Contract for the new building The Contract is for 14 months as from 1st July so that the building should be completed by Septem- ber 1937, by which time it is hoped that the total sum will have been received and we appeal to all our friends to help us to reach our objective.
SUBSCRIBERS THANKED We should like to thank all who have subscribed to the general and buliding funds during the year, and all who have helped us in other ways. Our Honourary Trea- surers, Mr. Forsyth and Mr. Som- merfelt of Messrs. A decision that should further popularise the Hong Kong-Canton river steamer service, is announced by the Hong Kong, Canton, and Macao Steamboat Company, Ltd.
Commencing from Monday, Aug. 21, they are inaugurating a new ser vice from Canton leaving that port at 11 p.m. instead of 4.30 p.m. as heretofore.
