NIGHT FLYING

The question of night-flying facilities was raised in Parliament the other day by a member who asserted that we were "years be- hind other countries" in this res- pect. Perlaps this slightly over- states and distorts the case. True. a few, very few, night services are running on the Continent, in Germany especially. Geographical conditions, the possession of long land distances where aircraft have peculiar advantages, are one ex- planation: in little Britain, with its short hauls and excellent rail- ways; there is not the same ut- traction. The United States, which has thousands of miles of lighted airways, expensively equipped with the latest wireless aids for the guidance of pilots in navigu REGISTER O Ftion and in "bflnd" landings, is SHARES of the Corporation will nearly a continent in itself.
