The price for Ready SEver drop- ped. 1/16.yesterday to 19 3/4. The Forward rate "was unchanged at 19 13/16. Sliver advices reported China 14 having sold. India bought. Bears covered to a cer- tain extent. After the official Ax-·| ing there were some business done at 1/18 under the quoted rate. In America the rate was unchanged at 14 3/4 for Spot.
The London-New York cross- rate was "quoted at 5.02. The New York-London rate was quoted a: 5.02 1/32.,

Opened steady but later gased off owing to some buying inquiries, particularly for forward deliveries. STERLING
Opened with sellers at 1/3 15/32 for August resulting in a small business at that rate for October delivery followed by transactions a: 1/3 1/2 for cash. The market then eased oT and offers at 1/3; 15/12 were accepted for Septem- ber and also for August delivery. The market closed at 1 pm with sellers at 1/3 15/32 for Jane. 1/3 7/18 July-October and possibly. November, buyers at 1/3-1/2-June-" July and 1/8 15/32 August-Novem- ber.

A fair amount of business was done during the course of the morning at 32 3/8 for June de livery. The market closed at I p.m. with sellers at 32-5/16 June- July. 32 1/4 August-October and 32 3/16 November-December, buy- ers at 1/16 higher respectively.
