RACING AT MACAO
SYLVANDALE WINS THE SOUTH CHINA CUP
Pays $116.80 For A Win
There was a very large gathering at Macao yesterday to wit- ness the last meeting of the season of the Macao Jockey Club. The chief attraction of course was the "South China Cup" where a cash sweep was held with over $17,000 for the winner. For this race there were 36 entries and eight came under the starter's orders:
The racing in general was good and the field fair in spite of several torrential showers,
There were two upsets one especially Monoplane who did not. seem to relish the heavy going. We think that Plain View and Humber rather let their supporters down. That popular Lan stable won the first two races.

DAVIS CUP· TENNIS
GERMANY ENTERS
FINAL
("Hong Kong Daily Press" Special)
Berlin, June 13.
By virtue of a three-nll lead over Ireland, Germany gained the right to enter the European Zone final of the Davis Cup on Saturday when Ireland put up poor opposition to the German Davis Cup stars here: In the doubles contest, Baron von Cramm and Hinkel defeated Lyttle- ton Rogers and Macveagh 6-0, 6-1, 6-4, play lasting only for three- quarters of an hour. The winners had little opportunity to show of their best as the Irishmen proved quite unequal to receive 'the fast and accrurate driving of their op- ponents.
A distinguished audience gather- ed to see the contest, among the spectators being Premier Goering. Transocea News Service
