Two Major Upsets With Handsome Dividends

A touch of real summer weather favoured the second day's races of the Sixth Extra Race Meeting of the Hong Kong Jockey Club which was held on Saturday, and which In- eldentally brought the first halfprogramme to ป close.

Funters had rather successful day in which two divi- dends paid over $100. Violet Queen in the Manly Handicap paid Its 63 backers $169.40 each for a win while Rugby Star's win in the Smugglers Handicap was responsible for the handsome divi- dend of $105.80. These two were the major upsets of the day, the other results coming off very much as expected,

Cash Sweep Dividends were far better than the first day's Saturday. figures due no doubt to the better attendance The Lantao Sweep attracted great excitement, the first prize which was won by ticket No. 8103 yielded $25,897.76, second prize was Won by ticket No. 10751 yielded $7.399.36 and third prize was won by ticket No. 22179 with $3,699.68 as its reward. The Dally Double was successfully backed by 207 punters who were each rewarded with $24,90.

Davis with a first. Notable absentees among the jockeys were Messrs. G. U. da Boza and L C. Harris.
