Week Ending 13.3.36 (Noon) Under the influences analysed in our last report prices continued to decline and the lowest point was reached on Tuesday, coincident with advices from the US.A. in- dicating the possibility of further labour trouble in Akron. The turn came on reports that the trouble had been settled, and prices im- proved subsequently on tentative estimates of increased consumption In the U.S.A., during the current quarter.
From the recent behaviour of our market one can draw the general conclusion that owing to the un- derlying strength of the statistical position Rubber prices should im- prove, always subject to uncertain- ties and disturbances outside the scope of our market.
On 9th inst., Stocks in the United Kingdom stood at 136,698 tons, a decline of 3,054 tons when com- pared with the previous return. During the week it is anticipated that a decrease of 2,100 tons has taken place.
Preliminary figures of shipments from the NE.I. during April are cabled as total 25,063 tons (Estate 12.705-Native 12.358 tons), For the previous month the figures were total 19,054 tons (Estate 9,749 -Native 9.305 tons).
