Silver prices were lower yesterday to the extent of 1/16 for Ready and 1/8 for Forward, the quotation be- ing 20 for both deliveries, Silver advices reported China and specu- lators 2.5 having Fold. India bought: After the official firing the market was easier with sellers at 1/16 and buyers at 1/8 under the quoted rate. In America the rate was unchanged at 44 3/4 for Epot.
The London-New York cross rate was higher at 4.98. The New York- London rate was the same.

Steady but dull.
STERLING
A small business was done during the course of the morning at 1/3 9/16 for forward delivery. The market closed with small sellers at 1/3 9/16 for May, September and November-December, 1/3 17/32 buyers at 1/3 19/32 for any de- livery.
U.S. DOLLARS
No business, was reported. There were sellers at 32 1/4 for near and probably forward, buyers at 32 5/16 for any delivery.
