GOERING MAY

Training Now As Vice-Chancellor
MORE POWER FOR DR. SCHACHT
Berlin, Apr. 28. Gen. Goering, Prime Minister "of Prussia and Air Minister. is now regarded in well-informed circles as Herr Hitler's destined successor ss Leader and Chancellor. His position to-day approximates to that of Vice-Chancellor
As reported in "The Daily Tele- graph" recently, he has been kiven the key post of special controller of raw materials and foreign ex- change supplies, and is likely to be conarmed as sub-dictator over all those ministries which have non- Nazi Ministers at their head. He is 43, four years younger than Herr Hitler.
Gen. Goerings appointment was the chief subject of discussion on the Berlin Bourse. There ∙was general agreement that it will tend to strengthen the position of Dr. Schacht, Minister of Economies and President of the Reichsbank, in any conflicts with the Nazi party.
DIFFERENCES WITH NAZIS
One of Gen. Goering's chief duties will be to preside, either personally or through a deputy, at the daily conference on foreign ex- change apportionments. This is attended by representatives of the Reich ministries and the Nazi party. "deparments with foreign interesta, As available supplies have de- creased, the atmosphere at these meetings has, it is understood, be come increasingly strained.
The choice of Gen. Goering, who is' Commander-in-Chief of the Air Force, ensures that the fighting forces will continue to obtain the lion's share of foreign exchange for the import of raw materials re- quired for re-armament.
It was he who coined the phrase "guna are of more importance than butter." The appointment is regarded in many quarters as marking the final transition of the German economic system to one strongly recalling war conditions.
