Self-reporting newspaper men and women agree that the fault of most films with a newspaper back- ground can be traced directly to the doors of those producers who haven't the faintest of what a press room looks like.
Profiting by the experience of other studios, Warner Brothers before a single camera turned on "Front Page Woman" showing at the Oriental Theatre on Wednesday and Thursday decided to get right down to bed rock, with the active press called in to have its say.
Among a number of self-appoint- ed technical experts on the picture Was George Brent, the co-star, who Cornes of a family with definitely journalistic leanings.

BENGUET CONSOLIDATED

Theft Confirmed
Manila April 11.
A. F. Duggleby, vice-president of the Benguet Consolidated Min- Ing Company, yesterday confirmed reports which have been circulat- ed the business community for the past several months regarding the theft of some 6,000 shares of Benguet Consolidated valued at P62,000. The shares belang to the Dominican friars.
Those thought to be involved are William Solari, former stock ledger clerk of the Benguet Consolidated Mining Company: Edwin C. von Pelikan, formerly employed in a large brokerage firm; and, Hen- drick von Buchwald, a former employee of an American oil com-
pany.
All three men have left the Is- lands. Solari, who is an Italian, left Manila in November. last year, on the pretext of Joning Mussolini's African expedition. The loss of the shares had not been discovered then. and Solari, who was a trusted employee, was given his salary for the remainder of the year plus a Christmas bonus.
Mr. Duggleby, who is the direct- ing head of the Benguet Consolid- ated interests during the absence of Judge John W. Haussermann. president and general manager, and of F. O. Haussermann, vice- president and assistant general manager. declared that, hvis com- pany will spare no effort to bring the culprits back to Manila" to stand trial.
The papers were placed in the hands of the city fiscal, some weeks ago by the firm of De Witt, Perkins and Ponce Enrile, attor- neys for Benguet Consolidated. The case has since then been un- der investigation by Francisco Albert, fourth assistant fiscal.
REPERCUSSIONS
One of the repercussions of the case is the resignation of G. E von Petkan, brother of one of the men alleged to have taken the missing shares, from the firm of DeWitt, Perkins and Ponce Enrile, of which he was an assistant at- torney. Mr. Pelikan apparently resigned to save not only himself but his office from any possible embarrassment on account of his brother's actions. He sailed last Wednesday on the s.s. Tasman for

As he tries to explain why he is there, Overman thinks he is giving him an idea for a play and tells him to write it as a starring vehicle for his star and sweetheart. He takes a trip to Europe and leaves Bing and Misa Bennett to finish the story,
Running out of ideas, Crosby takes the star to a pight club to seek more material. After start-

He was told that perhaps he had sold some of the shares, so he left to check his records and found that he was right. It was then discovered that the certif- cates had been falsified,

be discovered after the dividends had been paid,, so he made sure that he was already out of the country when that happened.
As soon as the loss was discover ed, Benguet Consolidated bought from the market the equivalent number of shares to make up for the shortage.
