British Cabinet Meeting To Consider Point
London, March 30.
Mr. Anthony Eden, who spent the week-end in the country, returned to London early to-day to attend a meeting of the Ca- bluet called to consider the specific point of the draft proposala of the four Locarno powers which do not call for consultations - with Germany whose observations on these proposals is still awaited. Chief among these points is the undertaking given by Britain, France, Belgium and Italy that their General Staffs should enter into contact.
The scope of thess proposed conversations is restricted by the text of proposals. In section three, after declaring that nothing that has happened before or since the German breach of the Treaty of Locarns can be considered as having freed them fron their obligations or guarantees, these powers undertake" forth- with to instruct their General. Staffs to enter into contact with a view to arranging technical conditions in which the obligations binding upon them should be carried out in case of unprovoked aggression.
The consultations, for which a date has not yet been fixed, are part of the measures undertaken by Britain to reassure France and Belgium after the remilitarisation of the Rhineland,
They may serve to increase an immediate sense of confidence in France and Belgium and they are regarded as Britain's contribution toward easing the tension by Ger- many's actions- British Wireless.
