Glasgow, Feb. 2 Every day brings some further sign of preparation for the depar- ture of the Queen Mary from Clydebank. One is the beginning of the work of painting the Ex-. terior of the great vessel.
coat
Painters are now transforming the appearance of the ship-paint- ing the hull with three coats of white before the application of the Anal
of black. The superstructure will be Anished in white with a golden belt, 'Seventy thousand gallons of paint will be needed to paint the whole of the outer hull.
There is still some doubt about the exact date on which the liner will leave Messrs. John Brown and Co.'s Atting-out basin and ga down the Clyde for her trials, It has been generally understood

other nationalities, while of the 14. departures, parture date had been altered to ships, the rest being of other British the 22nd. This statement gave different countries. Particulars as great satisfaction to the public of Glasgow and Clydeside, as.
follows: the
Nationality 22nd being a Sunday, practically
British everyone would be assured of see-
Danish "Ing the historic spectacle.
There is, however, nothing den- nite regarding the Sunday: report. and it is now learned at Clyde- bank that it is probable the date finally chosen for the Queen Mary's departure may be Wednes- day, March 25. As between the 24th and the 25th there will be practically no difference in the depth of water available. and the latter date may be decided upon If it appears to be necessary so far as the completion of the out is concerned.
There is regret
in Clydebank that one
of the men who were largely responsible for preparing the plans of the Queen Mary will not be at the yard to see the liner sall. For Mr. William F. Warnock, chlet draughtsman of Messrs. John Brown and Co., died sudderly at his Dalmuir residence during the week.
