The Spanish Touch In Hats

Erik's spring collection of hats has a strong Spanish influence of line and style, carried out in black, white, and green. Here and there a red rose speaks for Spain, but usually a clear, full Tristr green trims or makes a hat, unit- ed to white or black, or both. A are few black and white hats shown, and some which are all black except for a flower.

For the morning there are hats with dented crowns and curled Orims in straw or felt, trimmed with a pliable qutil, or more than

and under the chin with pale siik 'mualin streamers. Small fans are used as trimming, set in front or at the back of a hat, or at the side. The mantills in miniature is used. With all their fantastic trimmings these hats are wearable, since they are made to fit the head comfortably.

At the charity ball given at. the house of the Princesag de Faucigny Lucine lately only. the waltz was danced. This fashion in dances is to influence coming fashions for the evening. Endria are being made which will make the swaying, bending movemens in the dance graceful. Godets, with Drting hips and a slim line to the knees, will swell the skirt to fullness. A neat waistline is fashionable, whether placed high or low. Tudor styles creep into many dresses for both day and evening. Sleeves are used for wid. ening the shoulder line and slim ming the hips.

The wide-mest chenille or metal thread is worn in the late afternoon and even- ing. It may be in a bright colour against a colourless dress. To be becoming it has to be softened about the brow with curis or fes- thers' or flowers, or an ornamen- tal comb in gilt and enamel such as Schiaparelli makes. Many elaborate coiffures are combined with hair and jewels alone. The hair may be dyed any colour from Tusset red to violet, blue, pink, green: Tight little curls, well lac quered or oiled, are set about the head in clusters and fastened with feathern, combs, stars, or a Elara,

LAVENDER BAGS

An attractive and unusual la- vender bag may be made in the form of a miniature work-bag of the popular ring-handle type. A bag of organdie, georgette, or Crepe-de-Chine is filled about three-parts full of lavender and gathered on to a coloured ring

A fairly deep heading should be made, and a little extra trim- ming, such as a rosette of ribbon or a small posy, should be added. A cane ring covered with ribbon to match the bag may be used f a suitably coloured ring cannot be obtained. A glass slave-bangle serves the purpose well and adds to the distinctive style of the bag.
