DOCTORS AND THE PUBLIC: PROBLEMS
OF HUMAN EFFICIENCY
PROF. MIDDLETON SMITH'S
INTERESTING TALK
4
A Problem for Engineers and Doctors
Great interest was evinced in the lecture of Professor C. Ä. Middleton Smith, which he delivered at the H.E. University Un'or Asembly Ball last night Professor W. L. Gerrard was in the Chair.
• Professor Middleton Smith is the Taikoo Professor of Eng - eering at the University and in his address on "Docters and the Pablo" "Problems of Human Efficiency" he departs from the sphere of his yocation and delves into that of his fellow-selent- ista, the Medical Faculty. He offers as a justification of his temerity that "the best method of learning something about a subject of which you know very Hitle is to give a lecture on it. There are always critles eager to point out defects and is a result we may learn something"
The lecture was very absorbing and one cannot say, as he says, that he was talking about something that he knew very Kttle about. His subject is a jotat problem for the Engineers and the Medicals, especialy interesting are the facts about the working conditions of Hong Kong, which, though having been felt by people here, are a ght in the darkness to those have wondered what exactly was wrong with themselves dur- ing the summer months.
