It is claimed at Old Trafford, however, that the United are play ing better now than at any time since August, Bright idea to give George Mutch a run at centre-for- ward has a lot to do with this. The management are no end pleased about the result of the Bent's work there. It will be the task of the "Reading pivot, Hayhurst, to give Match no scope for his shooting.
My reason, however, for sug gesting the Manchester side will Aurvive i associated with their great reputation for defence. They have lost faver goals than any other Second Division side, Why! WALES BEATS ENGLAND
Narrow Margin In Soccer Clash
London, Feb. 5.
Wales created a first-class Inter- national football: surprise to-day when at Wolverhampton they de- feated England by the odd goal in three.
England turned out as advertis- ed, but Wales made two changes, Hanford of Swansea and Bryn Janes of Wolves replacing Grif- nths and Robbins.
Both teams found difficulty in retaining a football on a bad ground and movements were con- tinually spelled by the ball stick- ing in the mud.
Neither side held the upper hand though Wales did most of the attacking. England › missed four chanced before Bowden scored In the 38th 'midtes, and at half time England · led' ï-n!l.-

Thereafter England ... sustained series of pressure and set up. strong attacks but found Wales's defence too stubborn.
