Close Finishes Witnessed

.Good racing was had at the Fanling Hunt and Race Club's meeting held at Kwanti yesterday afternoon when some very close finishes were witnessed.

The weather was eminently sulfed for racing and spills were few and far between although two occurred which were luckily of a minor character.

Attendance was moderate and punters Lad a successful day and It was left to Josephine to bring off the biggest surprise of the day when Mr. C. S. Ärcher piloted her home in "The Beef- steaks" Division A race to pay its four backer, $257,20 each. Dividends on the whole were high, much better than the pre- vious mecting. Honours were very evenly distributed.

General's Son Passes

The death occurred shortly after

4 p.m. on Saturday, at the French Hospital, Causeway Bay, of Mastër Chan Ping, aged 9 years, the third son of the late General Chan

The deceased, who was a stud- ent at the King Nam College, had been for three weeks, though he was not removed to the hos- pital tin about two weeks ago.
