CHINA DAY BY DAY

Newspapers throughout » China and elsewhere have of late devoted much space to the troubles and Japanese aggression in the North. We will, however, make a departure } from this subject, and in this article we wish to bring before the notice of the public of the pro- gress made by this much harrassed country.

During the last four years, the Republic of China has encountered unprecedented hardships resulting directly or indirectly from domestic turmoll and Japanese aggression. but in spite of it all, she has car- ried out its work of reconstruction with a commendable spirit of determination. In its administra- tion it has taken into consideration the external existence of the coun- try and nation. Furthermore it has led the people jointly to weather the trying period.

JAPANESE STATEMENT

DENIED

Palping, Dec. 13, Concerning the recent statement of the Japanese military attache here that Japanese planes were allowed by an agreement, made be- tween General Ho Ying-ching and General Uematsu, to fly over all Hopel territory, a member of the now defunct Miltary Council to- day declared that such a state- ment was totally incorrect.

This authority is very close to General Ho Ying-ching, He goes on to say that during the negotia- tions between General Ho and Gen- erai Uematsu last June, when the affairs of Hopei were being discuss- ed, the question of Japanese planes flying over Chinese territory never came up for consideration.

He adds that the term "Eo- Uematsh agreement was also in- correct.
