Eighty Feet Of Hull! Now Visible

Shanghai Nov. 9. Eighty feet of the starboard side of the hull of the Hervar; which was sunk in a collision with the ss. Tungtuck last December 17, was visible late yesterday after- noon after she had been dragged 100 feet from the Channel to a point closer to the Poctung shore. Lying on her side, the vessel was visible from a point about 15 feet back of her bow to her bridge, as well as part of her decks,

The work of raising and pulling the Hervar in closer to shore to a point where she was nearly ready to be beached, was accomplished by the process of lightening her weight. First the mud was scoop- ed away from her sides 'and as rauch inside as was possible.

Following this, divers went below and connected tubes to the double bottom tanks in the ship. Into these tanks compressed air

Freight And Asiatic Passengers Returns

(BY LONGSHOREMAN). .. During the 24 hours ended at 9 a.m. yesterday, the freight returns. received from the Harbour Office. show a fairly high tonnage move- ment, a large proportion of which being contributed by British ships. The total tonnage of general cargo carried by vessels to the Colony was 3.290 tons, of which 2,480 tons were carried in British,
