A survey of the rapid progress made by China during the last few sears is not without interes... specially when cognizance is given to the fact that there had not been a single day when she was not surrounded by troubles, both domestic and foreign. The ravages made by the communists had done [3957 much to retard her progress, and although this menace is not totally eradicated, still it is much checked. Added to this was the harassing time caused her by Japanese aggression in the North, and there were other natural calamities in China such as floods, drought, plague and famine, which annually
