HONG KONG DAILY PRESS, FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 1, 1935.
HONG KONG RIFLE
ASSOCIATION
First Invitation Shoot
The Hong Kong Rifle Association" held its first invitation shoot on the Army rantes at Kowloon City on Wednesday after- noon, when members of the Royal Navy and Royal Marines turned up in force to shoot for four of the Association's Silver Spoons, which had been presented anonymously by a member for this purpose. Concurrently with this competition was held the usual Spoon and Practice Shoot for members, and the total, number fring` was nearly 30, by far the largest which has, `up to now, attended on any one afternoon.
The Conditions of Shooting were the usual ones ie. seven shots to count and one sighter at 800, 500 and 600 yards, and for once, the weather conditions, from the point-of-view of shoot- ing, were all that could be desired.
Next week an Inter-Unit Competition is being held, for which entries have already been received from the Royal Engineers, Royal Welch Fusiliers, Lincolnshire Regiment and Royal Army Ordnance Corps, and as one of the conditions laid down is that members of the teams must also be members of the Association, some very close shooting is expected, in view of the facilities which have been available for practice.
47.
The following are the leading scores made on Wednesday afternoon; it will be noted that once again, one member made a score which was the highest. from the point-of-view of the handicap, as well. the nett, aggregates. Under the rules now in force, only one spoon is awarded when this occurs.
