Royal Navy Make Auspicious Start

THE FUSILIERS HAVE EASY GAME AGAINST ST. JOSEPH'S

Week-end football was featured by heavy scoring in the second division in which the Lincolns, Radio and Navy each scored 10. 9 and 7 goals respectively against their opponents.

The only senior game yesterday ended in a easy victory for the Fusiliers over the St. Joseph's College by a three goal margin. Play was interesting at times but the soldiers were never seriously challenged at any stage.

}}

On Saturday Police defeated East Lancashire Regiment by five clear goals. This game was keenly fought throughout and at the end of the first half the score sheet was blauk. A doubtful penalty against the soldiers which was converted in the second half completely changed the trend of play.

The Royal Navy made an auspicious" debut by beating the Club by three goals to two while both of the Gunner teams went down to Recreio and Kowloon respectively.

NAVY'S DEBUT

The Navy made a welcome ap- pearance in local soccer on Satur- day when they met and defeated the Club, in a senior league en- counter at Causeway Bay, by 3 goals to 2

The Navy had a very strong side on the field, but they took sometime to find their "shore- Yeen" When they did, however, they put in, some good work. The Club were quite up to the mark and scored two good goals. They indulged in the long passing game which proved very effective in the first half against the sailors' short passing tactics.

HAYMAN EXCELS

Quite a few new players were on view in the Navy side, and they gave good accounts of themselves... Hayman played a wonderful game in the detence; he was called upon to save terrific drives from Bick- ford and Fowler, but came through with flying colours.

The Club defence played their his usual steady game, and the for- wards were quite up to the mark, Bickford and Williams playing very well indeed.
