BETTER SERVICE PICNIC FOR THE BLIND

For "French Mail" Line

By the arrival of the M. M. liner Marechal Joffre here on Ea- turday the Messageries Maritimes (French Mail) have started the first step in an attempt to speed Eastern passenger up their Far and cargo service.

The vessel which was built for the Madagascar line was switched over on to the present schedule in order to accellerate this service.

The new ship is simliar to the Felix Roussel, with which most Hong Kong people are already familiar, having the same squat, square funnels She is slightly smaller than the Roussel, however. and is driven by internal combus- tion engines, instead of by elec- tricity.

The Kowloon Tong Group of the V.D.M.A acknowledge with grate- ful thanks the following donations towards the Picnic for the Blind which is being held on Saturday, October 19:--
