Packed like silks..it takes patience and care to prepare Turkish tobacco for Chesterfield Cigarettes
Size, color, texture, condition...
all these have something to do with aroma and flavor
Leaf by leaf, the sun-ripened Turkish tobacco is selected or re- *jected to get just the right kind for Chesterfield's milder, better taste. And just as much care is taken to pack the tobacco to preserve the delicate aroma during its 4000 mile journey to the United States.
So important is the prepara- tion of Turkish tobacco in mak- ing Chesterfields, that Liggett & Myers have their own modern leaf handling plants in seven important tobacco centers of Turkey and Greece,

In spite of the fact that two of the American players scored a home run each, the losers were on the whole a weak batting side, and moreover their nelding was very uncertain, The Japanese da the other hand, although not too strong in their battig, department, made up for it, by their keen felding. On the whole, the Japanese fully deserved their vic- tory.
The sailors were blanked out in the first three Innings, but in the fourth Lodik scored a "homer" to fegister two runs, The fifth stanza Jaw them blanked out again, and in the rext, two runs were scored through a home run by white, who brought one other batsman home. DISPUTED RUN
"USS. Mindanao did a good day's work on Saturday when, in their needle baseball encounter against the League leaders the Chinese, they ran out winners by the odd run in 15.
The game was very hotly and evenly contested and right up to the sixth innings, the Chinese were three runs in advance. "The end of the seventh inning saw a misunderstanding which resulted in the sailors crossing the plate on no less than four occasions.
White, who had played a great game throughout, hit a homer and when he romped home the Chinese protested against it, say- ing that the man whilst running... was touched by one of his own men and his run Ineligible.
was therefore:
The umpire ruled it otherwise and then rule books and heated argument ensued, Finally the Chinese took the feld under protest.

The last of the seventh innings found the sailors three runs In. arrears. Horton reached first safely, and moved to second through Vacca, who was given a walk.
Walte then chose a ball to his king and hit it between right and centre field for a home run, thus bringing the other two home to tle the sĊOTC.......
Lodik then reached first on a hit, stole second and was brought home on a two-base hit by Kriegal.
The game was won by the Mindanao, but as White's run was under protest the sailors con- tinued batting, but, though they had thair bases full with only one down, they could not add another run..

"in what reign, asked the tea- 'cher of her class, "do yr first hear of railways?
"In Solomon's," at once replied a little girl, who was asked to think again, and, having thought persisted in her original statement. Well" said the teacher, with a weary sigh, tell me why you con- neat, railways with the reign of Solomon,"
"Because we are told that the Queen of Sheba went to Jerusal sin with a very great tra'nf".
