Two Records Broken

W. Lawrence, the Victoria Recreation Club "ace" swimmer boat all opposition yesterday at the opening day of the Annual Swimming Championships of the Colony held at the VR C. bath, by winning the 100 yards Free Style in 57 1/5 secs. and the 100 yards Back Stroke, la 69 2/5 secs.
Both these times are official bath records. and it is, interesting to note that although in the first event mentioned, Lawrence has Improved his tima over that dis- tance last year by 3/5 of a sec- ond, the time recorded recently at Shanghal by Noel Hammond (who, is a certainty for the Shanghal Interport team) is 56 3/5 secs.
However, nothing that Shangha! has done of late can compare with Lawrence's. backstroke effort, which was the most exciting race on the programme yesterday.

BENAVITCH DISAPPOINTS The match between Chang and Benavitch commended at 3 pm and throughout Benavitch played disappointingly.
