Shanghai, July 17. The Chinese screen world was! shocked yesterday morning to learn of the sudden death of Mr. Tseng Tsen-Chiu, one of the best known of local film directors who, until his death, was connected with the Star Motion Picture Company.

Mr. Tseng died of heart failure at 7.10 am. yesterday at his home, 4 Chi An L, Moulmein. Road. He was very weak and of late his work has been so heavy that he has bean laid up for the past few days. He recently made a long speech of welcome during the banquet given In honour of Miss Butterfly Wu, one of his company's movie queens who returned to Shanghai from a tour of Europe a little over a week ago.
