An exceptionally large crowd, turned "out at the Green yesterday afternoon to witness the quarter final open rink lawn bowls championship between the C.C.C. four posed of J. Cavanagh, B. W. Bradbury, „H. Beer,' U. · M. Omar and the Recreta four composed of J. E. Noronha. C. E. Mar- ques, F. X. M. da Silva and C. G. Silva.
The gathering was not disappointed so far as the standard of bowls was concerned. Exchanges were very even"unt almost the last head when the Recreio four energed winners by 18 " shots to 13, thanks to the good work put in by F. X. M. da Sra. Categorically speaking there was very little to choose between the two rinks. All four players indulged with sonte clever bowling.
Cavanagh was somewhat over- shodowed by Noronha who play ed his best game to date as No. 1. He had Cavanagh covered for the greater part of the game and thanks to his placings the foun- dations of Recreio's points were laid,
Bradbury had slightly, the better advantage over Marques when it came to laying shots. He was on the whole quite reliable and his draws on many an occasion left Marques guessing..

ANOTHER WIN
In the other quarter final at the Taikoo Green, the Recreto tour L. J. Silva, L. J. Xavier, F. V. V. Ribeiro and H. As Alves met and defeated the C.G.C. four-A. A Razack, M. A. R. Scuza. A. S. Goines and D. Rumjahn by 27 shots to 21 after the Portuguese four had a commanding lead of 12 shots at the 13th head.
The game was not quite so in- teresting in the early stages when the C.C.C. four were do much.

Gotch and LEStokes by 7-5; 9-7; while in the second and principal match Gordon Lum and Dud Squires were outplayed by Khoo Hool-hye and M. Benavitch by 3-6; 8-3; 6-3.
Opening in the blazing sun, of 3.30 p.m. yesterday. Collaco and Forbes met with heavy opposition from Gotch and Stokes. For each game taken, a successful reply was alt.
