"Peiping. July 10.
Since the Municipal Government decided in April to abolish, co- education in locs) private middle schools, active preparations have been under way for the enforce- ment of the decision. According to yesterday's papers the Union of Private Middle Schools has ad- dressed a telegram to the Minis- try of Education in Nanking, re- questing it to overrule the "decision of the Municipality, and pointing out that the practice of co-edu- cation in middle schools is not contrary to the sound principles of education.

If the two muni- cipal girls' middle school cannot accommodate them all, how many can be admitted by private girls' middle schools? Of course the municipal authorities can request the private girls' middle schools to éstablish more classes, but the question of funds must be consi- dered. Some of these schools are not well-off, and if they are to be asked to accept more students next term, they have to make pre- parations in advance..
