Lady Southorn Opens The Lido
"I have great pleasure in declaring open the first portion of the Lido and I hope it will give pleasure and healthful recreation to all who revel in this glorious bay, both in glowing sunshine or by radiant moonlight."
With these words Lady Southern, O.B.E. opened the Repulse Bay Lido Jast evening, a beautiful sunset lending a touch of colour to the proceedings. The Lido is a beautiful structure and should prove to be a decided acquisition to Repulse Bay which has won for itself the name of the Riviera of the Orient. Lady Southern was given a tremendous ovation as she declared this pleasure pavilion open.
On arrival, Lady Southern accompanied by His Excellency Sir Thomas Southorn, The Officer Administering the Government and Capt. Cragg (A.D.C.) were met at the entrance by Mr. J. II, Tar- sart the Chairman of the board of directors of the Hong Kong Realty and Trust and the following members of the board of directors:-Messrs. T, E. Pearce, F. M. Raymond and PR. Ewok and the architect of the pavilion Mr. C. Little.
His Excellency and Lady Southorn sat in the official dais beautifully decorated, with two young Chinese lads dressed fit. tingly in the uniform of sailers flanking them on both sides.
