The inkstand has been made from the design of Sir Edwin Cooper, A.RA. It has a silver well, on which is Inscribed the history of La Lutine. The inkwells are two capstan tops; silver medallion heads sculpted by Mr. C. L. J. Doman carry the date. The sides of the inkstand are carved with the Royal Standard, a royal yard, a steering wheel, and the Lutine bell, surrounded with oak leaves, with the arms of Lloyd's on a background of sails, while the angles are carved to represent seaweed.
The oakwork and carving. have been done by Mr. George Haugh- ton who was, the craftsman res- ponsible for the beautiful carving in the library, committee-room, the inscription on and other apartments at Lloyd's. the inkwell reads:
