The Derby" of 1933 may well be described as a "Millionaire's Derby" the owners of the first three horses being the Aga Khan. ' Sir Abe Bailey and Lord Astor, respectively.

Sixteen horses participated' in the race, this being the small- est field since 1919, while the crowd was net as large as might have been expected. The going, 'however, was exclient the hoof marks making' only the slightest 'impression on the turf.

Tattenham Corner was packed with spectators and on both sides of the course the crowds were dirty deep. The starler made an excellent job of the difficult task of getting the field off to a good start, succeeding in his very first allempt.

THE RACE DESCRIBED

His Highness the Aga Khan realised the height of his ambition when he won the Epsom Classic with Bahram who finished 2 lengths in front of Sir Abe Bailey's Robin Goodfellow, Lord Astor's Field Trial being a good third, half a length behind Robin Goodfellow. There were a few pople on the Heath but Tattenham Corner was

crowded with racing enthusiasts -long before the race was due to start. The whole course was crowded and the people were thirty

deep on either side of the course while a few were "cantering about" in the middle of the

course.
