THE PEOPLE'S TRIBUNE

A semi-monthly magazine dealing with the social, political and economic life of China and other Far Eastern countries.

Edited by TANG LEẠNG-JI

LONDON NOTES

By The Air Mail

(From Our Special Correspondent)

London, May 9. Addresses to the King are to be moved in both Houses at Parlia- ment as a preliminary to the Army manoeuvres.

19

The addresses will ask his Majesty to make an Order. In Council under the Military 'Manoeuvres Acts of 1897 arid 1911. The invocation of these Acts is largely in consequence of a const- derably extended plan of man- oeuvres this year. This, combined with the increasing mechanisation of the Army, requires the use of larger tracts of land.

The Order in Council will apply to considerable areas in Wiltshire, Hampshire and Sussex. In addi- tion. War Department land ог Salisbury Plain will be available.

in

THE PEOPLE'S TRIBUNE aims at conveying accurate information and the correct interpretation thereof, at informing the foreign public what "the Chinese people and their respon. sible leaders are thinking and doing- at explaining the significance of mayor political and other relevant social developments-conscious of prejudice. Being China's ita responsibilities, without fear or

authoritative periodical of its kind, the articles are not only reproduced and commented upon by the various English-language publications in Shanghai and elsewhere in Chica, standing Attorneys-general but also translated into French, Garman, Malay, Dutch, and other languages throughout the world, and occasionally cabled over in full to Europe and America.

The Army, authorities, bearing mind last year's experience. when, owing to the drought, the anal exercises, which were to have' been directed by the Chief of the Imperial General Staff had to be cancelled are anxiously studying the weather prospects.

most

THE PEOPLE'S TRIBUNE enjoys the largest circulation of any Chinese periodical published in the English language containing many outstanding features, including section dealing with finance, commerce, art, and also a pictorial department, it equals in style and content the best current magazines of the West."

Sir John Simon, who was knight- ed at the Coronation, is the only one who is not a law ford or a peer."

He had the chance when Mr. Asquith offered him the Lord Chancellorship in the first Coall- tion Government.

COMMONS SUCCESS

Of the group by far the biggest Agure in the House of Commons

was Lord Hewart.

He came to the House in 1913, having won a by-election at East Leicester.

I heard his maiden speech. It was a fine performance. It ful- alled the high hopes, which had been formed of him before he came to the House of Commons. It did not disappoint those who were predicting for him a brilliant future in politics.
