The cofan was borne by members of the Government as well as ten officers from the Cathedral and placed on a gun carriage drawn by six black horses and covered with the Palish red and white eagle standard upon which lay Pilsudski's sword, marshal's bato and "old soldier's cap. heads were bared when the coffin was carried by six generals to the hill top where a field gun stood on the spot from which the "dead Marshal held grand parades of the Polish army.
Led by the new Inspector-Gen- eral. Rydz-Smigly and 100 gener- als the parade marched past the hill with lowered colours and swords while the reverberations of the muffled drums mingled with the drone of airplanes circling over head.
A gun salute announced the end of the ceremony and the generals carried the coffin to a special train where Madame Pilsudski walted to accompany the mortal remains to Cracow.
