MR. MOXON'S SPEECH AT MEETING
Presiding at the 46th Ordinary Annual Meeting of Share- holders of the Green Ikland Cement Co. Ltd., Mr. H. Taggart reported a loss of $275,144.25 and deducting the sum of $273,847,77 at credit of Profit and Loss Account brought forward from 1933, there remained a debit balance of $1,496.48.
Trade with S. China was brought to a complete standstill in September last year due to the refusal of the Chinese Author- Itles to issue the necessary Import permits and the business in Macao was severely handicapped in this respect. A certain mea- sure of support was forthcoming from Macad when the Porto- ruese Government imposed a tax of $1:10 per bag on Imported, cement.
There was considerable outstanding call money due to the Company in respect of the second call made and legal actions had to be taken in certain cases with a view to enforcing pay- ment.
