FASHION PREPARES FOR

A BLUE SEASON

The Silver Gleam In Fabrics

Colour will play a truly import- ant part in fashion, but new ways of shading and presenting brilli- ant tones with a misty surface take away the crudeness that crept into the brightness of the past. Even holly-red has a white gauze-like film that softens it to. 3 deeper beauty. «

It will be a blue rather than red season. There is that wha- derful deep blue known as Ceru- lean that has much white in its composition, rendering it as flat- tering to wear as the familiar love-in-the-mist, with its greying tints. Then what a variety of bine-mauve shadings are covered. by the delphinium and iris range. It would be difficult not to and plenty of blues to suit us this year.

Nothing is more effective than the new shadowy surfaces. A tas- hion genius called one model "Blue Shadows" and another "81- ver Smoke.". They conveyed the richness of colour, softened by smoky bues.

depth and beauty. The blue, 11 not crude, was dull and the pink" possessed an ugly purple look or else was a most wishy washy affair Now there are lovely tints in white from Ice-bluewhite to old ivory or parchment, not omit ting the list of "off-the-whites."

The blues are unending in beauty, and the pinks can sug- gest a pale rose-tint exactly like the maiden's blush-rose, or gra- duate into deep apricot," beige zo- see or faded ashes. The pastel range recalls, splendours from the eighteenth century, but the newer. surfaces Auttering.

Green is popular and a happy choice for many a debutante, from the 1lly-of-the-valley tint to emerald sea-grean, which is full of blue and river-green sub- dued by grey.
