London, March 15: "Dare-devil" John Tranum, hero of many hundreds of parachute jumps, died to-day in a plane 5 miles up when about to jump out on what he hoped would be a re- cord descent.

It appears that death was due to the exhaustion of the supply of oxygen and that My. Tranum be came unconscious before he could connect with the reserve supply.
