A ministerial declaration says that the Government recognises it is" impossible to defend the franc at a level hitherto adopted as parity and the franc will therefore be modified. The obligation of the National Bank to meef sight and bearer notes in the conditions laid down by the statutory regulations of 1923 will be suspended.
