Gen. Sir Archibald Hunter, who has been taken ili during a visit to Jamaica, is in his 80th year: is just 60 years since he joined the Army, his first regiment being the King's Own Royal Lancasters, of which he was afterwards colonel.

When the pre-war German army had manceuvres Sir Archibald "was elways present as the ex-Kaiser's personal guest. This was in grati- tude for an action which may have saved his life.

During a visit to the late Lord Rosebery at Dalmeny the ex-Kaiser was stepping into the carriage at the station, and was still half in and half out when the horses. bolted.

Bir Archibald Hunter, who was in command of the guard of honour, threw himself at their heads, and succeeded in stopping them."
