HONG KONG AND AVIATION

of in-

The rapid progress made in com- mercial aviation makes one wonder whether Hong Kong is quite aware of the possibilities which are open, to her as" an airport. We have actually seen so little, that we have come to regard this subject. with a pardonable air difference. While the cities neigh- bouring Hong Kong are making arrangements for the proper re- ception of commercial air trafic, the Colony seems to lag sadly behind. Bangkok for instance, is able to advertise that they are only ten and a half hours away from Rangoon. How many hours are they away from Hong Kong? Until there is a regular air service between the two cities, the answer will depend on the type of steamer you, take. Imperial Airways have, In the meantime, extended, their service to Bangkok and a resident there can return Home in eight days. Why should not Hong Kong show some initiative by making some claim for inclusion into the Imperial Airways' route and thus become aerially linked up with the Mother Country and with the rest of the world.

Tremendous possibilities.

HUNTING MOMENTS

It must not be denied that Dr.

Aufgang is going a curious way about it to secure the friendship of the hunting fraternity. Almost from the first, he has committed every sin in the hunting Calendar.

To begin with, his dress was most unorthodox. He wore green plus fours, a double-breasted dinner jacket, and 'a, hat; with a mauve ostrich feather in it. He rode up at the gallop shouting "Tarradid- die, hot hot," which he fondly im-. agined to be a hunting shanty: Fehind him/came a mule laden with the most erotic paraphema- lia, including a harpsichort and broker's rickshaw. When asked what was the use of these per- quisites, the doctor was most my- sterious

"Ask Shifty Loynes," he said: You never know, you know."
