CROWDS THRILLED BY LONDON'S
STATE PAGEANTRY
King's Gracious Gesture At Balcony
The most brilliant scenes of state pageantry in London witnessed for many years thrilled the crowds which lined the route of the wedding processions from the early hours. Besides the streets which were thronged with eager spectators from all parts of the country, every window and roof surrounding the buildings as well as the specially erected stands were packed.
S
Terrific cheers from dense crowds outside Buckingham Palace greeted their Majesties the King and Queen as they drove out at 10.36 a.m. at the head of the first procession in a glass coach" with specially large windows, drawn by two bay horses and accompanied by an escort of household cavalry, followed by other Royalties in state landaus, each drawn by two bay horses..
Their Royal Highnesses the Duke of Kent, Prince of Wales and Duke of York in a glass coach drawn by bay horses headed the second procession from St. James Palace. Princess Marina, escorted by Prince Nicholas, at the head of the third pro- cession looked most charming.
Brilliant colour was added by the footmen, coachmen and outriders in full state liveries of scarlet and gold with powdered hair or wigs. The dazzling scene was en- hanced by the uniforms of troops lining the route consisting of detachments of navy marines, Scots, Irish and Welsh Guards commanded by Lieut Gen, Grant.—Reuter.
REMINISCENT OF A CORONATION CEREMONY
London, Nov. 28. Shortly before 10 o'clock the gates of Buckingham Palace were thrown open and the Life Guards drew up, awaiting Their Majesties. while the bride's escort was drawn up in the inner courtyard:
While the massed bands played the National Anthem, Their Majesties drove off. It was a splendid spectacle, cheered to the echo.

The Duke of Kent was obvious- ly nervous as he waited for the bride. The Prince of Wales who
was dressed in naval uniform, felt likewise. The strain, was relieved when the bridal party arrived.

POLICE PRECAUTIONS ·
Unparalleled precautions were taken to guard the Royal guests. For the Arst time in England the continental practice was adopted of posting police inside the cordon of troops facing the crowds. Boersen Zeitung" says that Mr. "The Abbey doors opened at 9.20 Baldwin asks Germany to judge his
