pre- vent a recurrence of the unplea- santness and unfriendliness caused by the use of bodyline OF dan- gerous bowling." was made to-day by Mr. 8. J. Pitts, president of the South African Cricket Association, in the annual presidential address.

Mr. Pitts appealed to all cricket bodies, as well as to cricketers, to use every endeavour to prevent the deliberate use of dangerous bowling in South African cricket.

Consideration
Nanking, Sept. 28. Plans for extension of the Shanghal-Amoy shipping route to Manila, as the first step in the development of an ocean service, are reported to have been sub- nutted by the China Merchants Steam Navigation Company to the Ministry of Communications for approval.
According to the plana, the luxurious steamer, Poo An, (now OD the Shanghai-Tsingtao run), will be commissioned for the extended service. The "trip from Amoy to Manila will take 50 hours. The Foo An will go into dry dock immediately for exten- sive repairs.
