(From Our Special Correspondent)

Canton, Oct. 1. Enumerating the educational work under his administration. ati the weeky memorial service held this morning at the Chunshan Memorial Hall. Mr. Huang - Lun Shu, Provincial Commissioner of Education," stated that $13,000,000 11 Commodity Index had been appropriated for the es "D. #

the PTR SH tablishment of schools in countles and to effect other im- provements.

He stated that $500,000 was de- voted to educational administra tive purpose. The money is being used for the People Mass Educa- tonal Institute, which has been reorganized to meet the popular demands of the general public. The number of normal schools is to be increased, and obstacles are to be overcome.

Commissioner Huang stated that

in the past returned atudents were sent to Japan to complete their education, but now there is some change and students will be sent to America. It was first intended to send ten studens to study in European and American universi- ties but owing to the lack of ex- penses only four are selected by competitive examination. A special examination board was formed among professors of the univer sities here.

The student who will go to the United States will be given $100

currency as expenses per month, and the other three who will proceed to Europe will be Fach gen£20 per month. student receives $1,000 as travell ing expenses

According to Mr. Huang, special emphasis will be devoted to milit ary educations in all the middle schools. Instead of confining mint ary activities to the parade ground, allwork will assume a military aspect. Courses in military science the nith are compulsory from grade primary school to the end of the sixth grade of middle school.
