She Learned About Sailors
Lew Ayres has the enviable task of making love to Alice Faye in "She Learned About Sailors," the Fox comedy-romance coming to the
King's Theatre on Sunday. Lew is the Champlon heart-breaker of the U. 3. Navy Alice is a night club entertainer in the picture. This gives Alice a splendid oppor- tunity to sing "Here's the Key to My Heart" in a manner that is re- miniscent of her "Nasty Man" number in George White's "Scan- dals,"
Aiding and abetting these two with the comedy are those knock- out slapstick artists, Mitchell and Durant, who are Lew's shipmates in the picture. and Harry Green. a South American impresario. The story takes them from an Asiatic port. through the vicissitudes of life on shipboard to a cafe in San Pedro, California,

And Her Cruel Charm
Students in particular and the publio in general will be afforded a rare opportunity by the management of the King's Theatre on Sunday when the highly interesting picture, "Krakatoa" will be shown,
ས་
A preview of this picture was screened to a large and distinguished audience yesterday, including the Hon. Sir Thomas and Lady Southom, Mr. M. J. Breen, and teachers of all the schools in the colony.
The picture which is both educa tional and entertaining, deals mainly with the eruptions of "Krakatoa which is located in the Sunda Strait between. Sumatra and Java, but before these are shown, the audience is enlightened with the various causes of volcanic eruptions. Scones depicting the destruction caused by these eruptions, notably by Mount Vesuvius in Italy and Mount Fujiyama in Japan are shown, and nied by a running commentary, the audience is able to grasp the full significance of nature's mysteries..
The eruptions of Krakaton aro vividly shown, and afford a rare sight which anybody interested in nature's mysterious activities can ill afford to
miss
Krakatoa is a submarine volcano, located in the Sandma Strait between Sdhatra and Java in the India Qecau.. It acquired world wide notoriety because of a entastrophic eruption in 1883 and has recently excited fresh interest by its renewed activity.
It is accesible only by straniers of the Dutch Government and, being fac off the beaten track, is not as well- known as other famous volcanoes, such as Vesuvius, Kilaue, Mont Pelee and others.
Krakatos, in its form as observed in 1983, was destroyed by collapse or explosion, but its activity lid not It has been intermittently cease. active, and the depths from which the activity came is not known, sa it is not possible to venture on the island itself.
As many 16,000 eruptions have been recorded at Krakaton in twenty hours.
Apart from this feature, the King's Theatre management are also showing "She Learned about Sailors an hilarious comedy, and with such an excellent programme, a visit to the King's on Sunday is well worth while.
Lew Ayres is persuaded by his two shipmates, Mitchell and Durant, to accompany them ashore at an Asiatic seaport. At a cafe Ayres meets Alice Faye, and be- fore
the fleet leave port they fall in love. When Mitchell and Durant are convinced that Alice is sincere in her love for Faye
Ayres, they do everything in their power to convince Ayres that he is wrong when he decides he can- пой
his marry her because of financial condition.
Mitchell and Durant set the stage for an accidental meeting of the lovers in Los Angeles and when something goes wrong, they forge❘ both lovers into a trumped-up mar- rlage. Then follows a series of hilarious events that brings thei film to a lively conclusion.
Alice Faye made her film debut in George White's "Scandals." ard was later seen in "Now T Tell." by Mr. Arnold Rothstein.
Under the aupervision of John Stone, producer for Fox, George Marshall directed from the screen play by William Corselman and; Henry Johnson. Richard Whiting and Sidney Clare are responsible for the song numbers.
