The story is a story of spies, of espionage and intrigue, and throws a new historical light upon the most dramatic of ail conflicts the Civil War.

Nothing apparently was spared to make "Operator 13" as authen- tic as possible. Through it are woven many characters whose names have become immortal in America's history-Abraham In- coln, Pauline Cushman, Allan Pin- kerton, General "Jeb" Stuart and many others. The role of the fam- Qua spy. Pauline Cusham, is ad- mirably handled by Katharine Alexander. Sidney Toler plays the part of Pinkerton, at one time chief of the federal secret service, and Douglas Dumbrille brings back to life the greatest of all cavalry Jeaders Teb Stuart,

Too, the musical spirit of the Old South has been ably captured and made a vital part of the story with songs and music by the Four Mills Brothers of radio fame, by Miss Davies, and by the old-fashioned dances that have been revived for the production:

The large attendance at every performance of "Murder At the Vanities" now showing at the King's Theatre is ample testi- mony of the picture's worth. The theme is one that provides an ex- cellent background for the good musical, and dance numbers, white a murder plot is cleverly wOYED into the story to give it con- tinulty.

Victor McLaglen and Jack Oakle are co-starred with Carl Brisson. There is no want of wit and humour in this picture. as whereever you see McLaglen and Oak'e you can be sure of plenty of amusing dialogue.

The producers have been ex- tremely lavish with their settings and the dance numbers are as gorgeous as they are brilliant. The music too will be remembered for a long time. The plot is very thin, but that's not the "main "at- traction of the film, "
