Tokyo Aug 8 The Nippon Tusen Kaisha has decided to assign the Nagara- maru, one of the six new vessels' now in course of construction, to the New York service in Septem ber. It is expected that the ship will leave Kobe on the 19th.
Fitted with Diesel engines, the Nagara-maru has a displacement of 9,000 tons, and its rated speed 1s 19 knota. It will cover Kobe- New York In 30 days and Yoko- bama New York in 27 days while the homeward run, will take 30 days to Yokohama and 36 days to

In the event of the six vessels being completed, the NY.K. service will prove a serious manace to the Osaka Shosen Kaisha which at

SIX HUNDRED MILES OF PIPE
For the Arst time oll that has travelled from Irak along a pipe through nearly 800 miles of desert has been taken away from the Syrian pert of Tripoli.
The organisation responsible for it is the Irak Petroleum Co. which has British, French, American end Dutch interests.
The pipe is buried in a trench throughout its course. It is a con finuous stretch of steel, except at the twelve pumping stations along
the route,
