Chinese Win For Ninth Year
THE CYCLING CLUB
(I TOP LITF) Although the bad weather did not permit of any tennis games being played during the past week, one very important match was decided the meeting between the Chinese Recreation Club ang Club de Recrelo in the "B" division, team Although the Portuguese were expected to put up a stubborn fight, the Chinese had no difficulty in winning. conceding but two of the nine sets played.
The Chinese Recreation have thus won the "B" division shield for the ninth year in succession,
The team has thus gone through its programme of seven matches without losing a single point, and has the impressive record of win ping 55 sets--an average" of a Traction under eight sets a match, with only 7 sets scored against them
was
"Since the "B" Division Instituted in 1918 the Chinese Re- creation Club have finished cham- plons no less than eleven times. In fact they have reigned supreme In this división ever since 1923 In 1925 there was no competition. For the first seven years the la was shared by the Recreto (twice) Vanguard Tennis Club, YMCA Royal Engineers 3.0 Civil Service Cricket Club and the Indian Re-t -creation Club.
Even if the Fecrelo lose their last match, they cannot be de posed from second place,, as they enjoy a superior average.
Glancing through the records of the team, one cannot help admir- ing them for their consistency. Ir F. K. Lau they have one of the most experienced league players. In the "B", division and although **Lausky" is continually being chaffed by his clubmates "about "being too fat and old to move about on a tennis court, he is play ing just as well as ever.

The Chinese will probably carry cf league honours in the other Bo far is two divisions as well.
the "A" division is concerned, it may be safe to say that they are "' certainties" and although Crat
gengower Cricket Club are doing very well in the "C" division, it is not expected that they will win the league as the Chinese have a much superior all-round team.
After their defeat at the hands of Club de Recreto. I rather ex- pected to see the Indians losing to Cralgengower when they met last week but the Sookunpod team managed to carry the day 'by 51 sets to 34. I notice that A F Suffiad is playing for the "A" team and although I have no doubt he rlays a sound game of tennis, I am rather surprised that Frank Pereira is not given the preference as Pereira is not only, a more ex- perienced man but he is also the better player of the two. ·

South China are the team that has caused many a surprise. A couple of years ago, they were a force to reckon with in the "B" ›divistorf "but I see that of the six matches played, they have lost five while they only managed to draw the remaining, one!
