OBITUARY

Mrs. Joseph Gould

We have to record, with deep regret, the death of Mrs. Joseph

the Gould which occurred at Peninsula Hotel last night.

The lady was an old resident of the Colony and enjoyed the respect at a large circle of friends. She nad been a resident of the Hotel for some years and together with Mr. Gould, was staying at the Hong Kong Hotel when the fire broke out in 1926,

The funeral passes the Monu- ment at 5.30 p.m. this afternoon and we take the opportunity of associating ourselves with the deep sympathy that is extended to Mr. Gould in his heavy loss.

Canton, July 26.

Judge Wang Chung Hui of the Permanent Court of International Justice, who intended to have left here yesterday for his native home in Nam Chak near Bocca Tigris, has changed his plan" and will go to Hong Kong to see Mr. Hu Han Min at the latter's request.

Mr. Hu has sent his daughter. Mrs. Lam, to Canton to invite Dr. Wang to go to Hong Kong for a consultation on important political questions, and he will proceed to the Colony to-day. If he has time. the World Court judge will take the Canton-Kowloon train to Shek Lung thence by bus to Nam Chak

The judge is very much in de mand here. The Canton leaders take advantage of his sound legal training and knowledge in world affairs and have secured valuable information from him concerning the legal position of the Manchu kao and what are the rights and privileges of China. The Kuomin-

(BY NO QUARTER")

No news has reached the Colony about Mrs: Marina and Dr. Aufgang with the exception of an extra- ordinary telegram which arrived on Tuesday: I print # below.

NO QUARTER. HONG KONG. CONGRATULATE ME ON FINE BOY BOTH WELL.

BABY AUFGANG.

"

Many of my friends rushed to the assumption that Mrs. Marina, now Aufgang, had indeed been blessed by the stork, but having in mind Mrs. Marina's upright, character, and the extremely short period of their marriage, I took the trouble to cable the second officer. It was just as I had anticipated.

The first news to reach the ge- neral public was the announce ment sent out by the Ravas, the official broadcasting station when shortly after noon, a concert was interrupted and the announcer, ut pistol point, stated "The Gov."

It appears that that inveterate ernment has resigned. Dr. Rintelen, Austrian Mialster to Rome is tak-Fractical joker Dr. Aufgang nas been electrifying the ship with his ing over the Chancellor's respon-

compradore's small son and placed im in Mrs. Marina-Aufgang's cabin. Mrs. Marina, being ex- tremely uninformed on certain sub- jects, promptly assumed it to be- long to her. She has now been disillusioned, and has received a short lecture on the facts of life from the Captain of the ship."

At whose instigation this step was taken is still not clear, the reports of the day's events being conflicting, some sta ing that the insurrection is led by Communists, or the Austrian Army and other the National-So- cialists. At any rate the general consensus of opinion seems to be that the Chancellorship of Dollfuss has ended.
