At one stage Blue House fulls 20 points in arrears of both Chocolate and Red Houses, but they gallantly pulled up in the last few events when excitement ran very high.
The standard of swimming dis- played by the Intermediate classes of Boys and Girls was amazing, and I saw several potential cham- plons in the making.
The diving was very good con- sidering the ages of the entrants, particularly in the "Junior School where several of the boys. made very plucky and successful at tempts off the high board.
The plunging was very good for 'School" and one girl reached over 45 feet while B. Hynes, who took the Boy's prize went to 47 .feet..

The teams will be Anally select- ed to-morrow, but several English players who had been asked to hold themselves in readiness are reported unft.
Yesterday, Paynter; the Lan- cashire left-hand batsman, was asked to be at Manchester in case. any late eventualities may make his assistance desirable to England.
It is expected that Australia's batting strength will be increased by the inclusion of W. E. Ponsford, who was absent from the last Test win-through illness-British Wireless.
