Last Year's Figures Show "A Surplus Of $976,563
The report of the Hon. Mr. Edwin Taylor, Colonial Treasurer, on the Finances of the Colony for 1933. reveal interesting statistics.
Although a deficit of $1.188.672 was estimated for, the final Agures for the year showed a balance on the right side of 9976,583. The estimated Revenue was $34,002,575 but the actual revenue fell short of this figure, the total for the year being $32,099,273.
The largest individual item of revenue was derived from the assessment tax, the sum of 86,434,369, being collected. This repre- septed 20,05 per cent of the total revenue, or 20:87 per cent of the revenue exclusive of land sale.
