Herbert Marshall
Praises His Röle In "Riptide".
Herbert Marshall considers his role in Riptide one of the mast -interesting he has ever been call- ed upon to play. And the hand- some, reserved Englishman, who portrays Lord Philip Rexford in the Metro-Goldwyn-Mayor film coming soon has only words of praise for Norma Shearer and the rest of the cast. Marshall's
bearing and dignity associate him with genuine British mobility in the minds of motion picture audi- ences. He stated:
"It was a pleasure to play in
a picture with Miss Shearer. She
is truly one of the most superb actresses of the talking screen. She has a true feeling of artistry: she has depth and tremendous scope."
Coming from an actor with Herbert Marshall's personal re- cord for success, that is indeed compliment. Marshall has played behind the footlights ever since he was nineteen years of age. He has scored successes in Interference, Parts Bound. Mich- ael. "And Mary, There's Always Juliet and dozens of other plays. both in New York and in his na- tive London.

Back in England, he appeared in severni dozan plays over a period of five years. Then he came to New York and was enthusiastically received in These Charming People. It was after this success that solidifled his claim to international stardom. He returned to London for the aforesiad Interference and Paris Bound.

would like to know how your hus- band would react if subjected to the intriguing smalles of another charming woman?
That is exactly the situation. that Constance Bennett, in the dual role of a wife with stage ast pirations and an attractive French diseuse, is faced with in "Moulin Rouge." her first picture for 20th Century which is showing at the Alhambra and World Theatres.
How the domineering husband who vetoes a stage career for the woman he married is forced to capitulate and concede her talent; how her masquerades as another her personality almost wrecks marriage, to him as herself unfolds itself in a fascinatingly dramatic and romantic tale that will bring tears to your eyes one Instant and set you roaring with merriment the next..
This is the first time in her career
that Miss Bennett has essayed a dual role, one of the most dificult feats i acting, and critics have been en- thusiastic in their commendation of the performance.
Constance Cummings and Arline Judge are the love-interest which helps to keep the story moving at a pace that never lets up from the beginning to the end of the pic-screen star. ture.

This is also the first time that Miss Bennett has been so definite- ly. featured as a singing star, and If you don't believe that this young lady can sing as well as act, you'll be most agreeably surprised. Two songs, which are quite likely to become hits of the season, are sung by her in her role as the Parisian actress. One of them is called "Coffee in the Morning and Kisses in the Night" melody which calls for a ricked wink if the ditty in its chorus answers the question as to what on earth keeps married couples together despite frequént marital battles.
The other tune is a romantic ballad entitled "The Boulevard of Broken Dreams.”
